[Fucked Up Food]

Rich Zubaty here. I didn’t record a podcast last month and let you listen to Chris Hedges, because I was redoing my ebooks. What Men Know that Women Don’t – my personal best seller. The Corporate Cult – which SHOULD be my best seller – about the abuses and malfeasance of large corporations. And my wildly imaginative, laugh your ass off funny novel about IDEAS, Your Brain Is Not Your Own, which is about BOTH men, and corporations…as well as evolution, science, god and just about everything else…And which SHOULD have sold a million copies…and in a marketplace not crushed under the boot of corporations and corporate marketing…it would have.

In addition I finally added my books to the Nielsen’s book data base which serves the UNITED KINGDOM and the whole English speaking world, with the exception of the United States. So that should bring in some sales, ESPECIALLY if any of you listeners call up your local bookstores in Australia, or Canada, or India, or Scotland or England or Hong Kong and ask if they have, or can get, any of the books by Rich Zubaty. If you can’t afford to make a donation in these tough times, this is a good way to help me. Call up your local library or bookstore and ask them to get my books.

You can always get ebooks by emailing me directly and making a payment to Paypal. Then I’ll send you the book. But that’s not the point. The point is to get them into the bookstores, and that’s a lot harder when the corporate scum bags are paying off booksellers to dominate their shelf space, so they can flood the market with, McBooks, those futile wastes of paper, that have all the inventiveness and authenticity of McDonalds’ cheeseburgers. Books made outta soybean solids and mass marketing. Anyway, you can help by calling your bookstore and library on my behalf.

And though I would much rather read a paper book myself, here’s what I like about ebooks. My $24 What Men Know that Women Don’t book sells for $8.99 as an ebook. One third the price. And… instead of getting $3 a book, like I get from the paper edition, I get $6. So the book sells for one third the price, but I get twice as much money. And fuck the corporate middlemen who have their fingers in my soup.

You can get my ebooks from amazon.com if you have a Kindle. I am also trying out Google books just to see what, if anything, will happen with them. They have Epubs and PDF versions. Both of which are playable on your computer on the free Adobe or Firefox ebook readers. Or like I say, you can get them by emailing me directly; Rich Zubaty attt hotmail dottt com. Or just use that email address to send money to Paypal and request the book you want. What Men Know that Women Don’t is $8.99. The Corporate Cult 6.99 and Your Brain is Not Your Own 5.99. US dollars. My autobiography Romance, is only 2.99 – though if you’re persistent you can figure out how to get a free one of those from my websites happyfool.Org or therudeguy.com

OK…enough of that. But I am thrilled to report that last month one of my old steady podcast listeners from Florida donated a hundred bucks toward getting a couple new tires for my 86 Ford Bronco Two. So thanks, to his goodness, that dangerous problem is solved.

While editing the ebooks I reread the Corporate Cult – a copy of which I got out of my local library. It’s my poorest selling book and should be my best selling book. Ten years ago, when we were fat and stupid, in the months before 9/11, I was showing how corporations rot our souls, how feminism led directly to corporatism, and, I was warning Americans to rein in Wall Street corporations, to avoid the economic meltdown we are having right now. Plus, for balance, the book has some fine travel adventures from when I lived in Peru and Tonga and India and Mexico. What I call: corporate-free zones.

Here’re some excerpts:

Corporations control our behavior, information, thoughts and feelings – just like Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Moonies, and the Scientologists.

What would it look like if we lived in a world where we were not colonized by our own corporations? A serendipitous corporate-free zone where Congress passes a law that corporations can no longer be legally regarded as “persons”? What will it feel like not living in a Corporate Cult?

Well…you can walk to the grocery store, and you know your butcher by name – like you could in the suburbs of Sydney, Australia in the early 1990s – because small grocery stores are sprinkled throughout neighborhoods, not concentrated in mega stores. The guy you buy your clothes from coaches your son’s Little League team – he’s not just a minimum-wage, no-benefits, grinning Wal-Mart goofus. You know your mechanic and your kids’ teachers by name. There’s less crime because people have jobs because our jobs are not deported overseas. Our air and water are cleaner, our food fresher and more natural, and our lives longer and more cancer-free, because small companies cannot buy off politicians to stall enforcement of pollution laws, like the big ones can. Politics is still dirty, that’s the nature of the beast, but it’s less controlled by money since Ralph Nader’s brilliant idea of the “None of the Above” vote has been instituted. No more voting for the lesser of two evils. If you don’t like the major candidates, you vote “None of the Above”. If enough people do that the election becomes uh “do-over”, and we get some candidates up there we can talk to – not opinion poll parrots. No more government by and for the rich only.

Our kids are not raised on TV and computers. They interact with nature and with other human beings.

Manipulation of the U.S. and Global economies by New York City banks and stock brokers ceases, as corporations begin to pay the true costs of their operations – “profits” are exposed as a debilitating myth, and the Stock Market dries up and blows away. You want to invest in something? No problem. Stick your money in a farm or a business and leave it there twenty years, not twenty minutes. Family farms are once again viable – not pooped on by agribusiness. There’s less government waste and less pork barrel spending because there’s nothing to be gained by politicians dispensing huge chunks of money to corporations – because corporate “bundling” of campaign contributions to politicians is prohibited by law. Oh, and corporate managers and directors can be held criminally liable for evil decisions – just like everybody else!

Best of all, we get out souls back! Our ideas are once again connected to our actions. We don’t get into wars for the wrong reasons. We retain our Constitutional Civil Rights on our jobs – Free Speech, Freedom of Assembly, Free Trade. We can form unions, tell our bosses to bite the big one, blow the whistle on unethical behavior, and we can’t be fired for it! We have community markets in our neighborhoods where citizens can gather if they want to buy something or sell something – with no licenses or fees required! THAT’S CAPITALISM. Not Corporatism! Capitalism. Free markets! No fees. No licenses. No corporations! No nothing that interferes with the free flow of goods and services.

People who work with their hands will be honored. People who function as human transistors – businessmen, salesman – stopping and starting the flow of productive energy between others, will be despised as parasites.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are talking about changing a worldview here. Everything will be done differently. Everything will feel different. We won’t feel stupid because we can’t fit into a celebrity suck-off civilization. Famous people are going to have to do something more than just make faces in front of a camera.

You’ll be able to raise chickens in your backyard and not be stopped by “zoning laws” that inflate the price of real estate. You can have a horse if you want one. We’ve gotten more and more isolated behind glass and steel and our souls are dying. I can stay in a decent residential neighborhood in Lahaina, Maui and hear cocks crowing in the morning. It’s a nice sound to wake up to! The Hawaiians and Filipinos and Japanese like that sound. So they don’t complain, and the cops never interfere, and the zoning laws can go get embalmed.

We will all be citizens again. We will participate in the political process by going to meetings and airing preferences and writing letters to congressmen and women. We will do it because it’s fun, and effective, and we see the results. It’s satisfying work, not wasted effort. We can have some laughs and get something done. We will not be marginalized as we are in the political system operated by the Corporate Cult.

Architecture will change from one end of the country to the other. We will no longer feel like we’re living in strip malls. No longer will it be possible to drive from Maine to California and feel like we never left home because the buildings all look the same the whole way – 50s California steel and plastic. Architecture will have character and ambience once again. There’ll be fewer buildings and they’ll be more pleasant to be around – not just big ugly Wal-Mart warehouses.

There will be an explosion of fresh pie baking. No more apple-flavored cornstarch from McDonald’s. No more frozen French fries and dead lettuce and tough Costa Rican beef. Mom and Pop restaurants will put out good food at a good price and offer specialties – like fresh pies or homemade sausage or something hand made and tasty! The corporate conquest of our food industry has meant the elimination of choices. We can only buy their beef and their fries and their fruit glop, because they trounced competition and “streamlined” distribution. Capitalism? Or Corporatism?

Hippies kicked off organic food consciousness in the early 70s. The battle’s not over yet. We want our food back you bastards! Stop driving the mom and pop restaurants out of business! Get corporations out of the food business and we’ll have good food, good jobs, and more. No more part-time burger flippers. No more federal tax money from Illinois, subsidizing irrigation projects in Arizona and California, so western agribusiness can undercut Illinois farmers. Let’s have everybody pay the price of their operations, and see who stays in business. Small farmers are inefficient? Who told you that? Small farmers are supremely efficient. They’ve been at it for ten thousand years. They just can’t compete with subsidized agribusiness!!! – Corporatism – Corporate Colonialism.

That food talk segues into my next segment, which is:

What the fuck are they doing to our food?

The videos, Food Inc. (I, N, C, Inc as in incorporated) Food Inc, which was sent to me by one of steadiest podcast listeners…and…The Future of Food, which can be watched online, lay out in graphic images, how THEY, corporate agriculture, are completely fucking up our food, and refusing to tell us anything about what they’re up to. They’re using us as guinea pigs.

Here’s an outrageous fact: 90% of all soybeans grown in the USA are GMOs, genetically modified organisms, and NONE of them are MARKED as such. That way, when something goes wrong, we won’t even know if gene splicing gone awry is partly the cause.

According to Jeffrey Smith on Democracy Now: By the third generation, most GMO soy-fed hamsters lost the ability to have babies. Are you fucking kidding me? No babies? Why have there NEVER BEEN studies on what GMOs do to humans! Because they don’t want us to discover what they do to us!

Here’s another outrageous fact: Soybean oil is in EVERYthing. It’s in ice cream, margarine, baby food, crackers, sausages…and most of those esoteric chemical ingredients listed on the packages of the processed foods we eat: like bulking agent, MSG, guar gum, Lecithin, protein extender, stabilizer, vegetable protein, vegetable starch and on and on. It’s even in Sunflower seeds! I tried to buy roasted sunflower seeds in Safeway, Safeway, get the irony here, Sunflower seeds in Safeway, and the only ones they had were roasted in soybean oil. Made from GMO soybeans.

And then there’s corn. Every wonder where citric acid, high fructose corn syrup, ascorbic acid, Xantham gum, maltodextrin, sucrose, calcium stearate, and saccharine come from? Now you know.

Rodents fed GMO corn showed immune system reaction, organ lesions, altered liver and pancreas cells, and signs of toxicity. If this corn is so safe, where are the tests on humans?

Obama campaigned in Iowa on the promise that he would cause GMO foods to be labeled as GMO foods. What does that make this? His 3 thousandth completely ignored campaign promise?

I grew up on the Illinois prairie where it was corn and soybeans as far as the eye could see. And I used to ask people, what the fuck is all this corn and soybeans for. And everyone, as if on cue, told me it was animal food. Animal food. But they never said, and they probably didn’t know, that WE were the animals, it was being fed to.

Do you know that they are now training wild fish like salmon and trout to eat corn? Do you know one of the best baits when fishing for stocked trout is a kernel of good old Green Giant corn? Forget the Mayflies and nymphs. Feed the game fish corn.

[rude guy outrageous]

I’m a Midwesterner and I love corn fed beef. It’s tender and marbled with tasty fat. But cows used to be raised on the open range for eighteen months, or more, then they were herded into cattle cars in Montana and shipped to feed lots like the former Stockyards in Chicago, where they were put in pens and fed on corn for the last few months of their lives…to fatten them up, and allow their meat to get tender, because they were penned up and not running around on the open prairie, dodging coyotes.

That was good meat.

Then along came McDonalds. And because McDonalds wanted cheap beef produced quickly, suddenly cattle were condemned to spend their entire short lives imprisoned in pens, standing knee deep in their own shit all day, eating only corn and antibiotics to keep them from dying of the diseases produced by standing in their own shit all day…and because McDonalds and the other McFoods restaurants are the biggest buyers of beef, that’s the kind of beef all the rest of us now get. The entire cattle industry has changed because of these corporate bastards dominating the marketplace. As with books, so with food, and so with everything else.

Our vegetables and fruits are big and colorful and taste like cardboard. That way they have a longer shelf life. Fuck shelf life. I want a real strawberry like I used to get picking them in my friend’s garden. And as if that isn’t bad enough, our chemically grown fruits and vegetables are virtually devoid of the minerals we need for life, because our soils are tragically depleted.

Ready for more. Atrazine, one of the world’s most widely used pesticides, is banned in Switzerland, home of the company that makes it – Syngenta. In fact it’s banned in all of Europe, as are GMO foods. But farmers still spray Atrazine over here, and it runs underground right into our water. It’s in all of our water. ALL of our water. We’re the guinea pigs. The free market guinea pigs.

Says Professor Tyrone HAYES of Berkeley: There’s a great deal of data showing Atrazine is an endocrine disrupter. In amphibians, Atrazine results in the demasculinization – the chemical castration – of male frogs…and their subsequent feminization. It produces hermaphroditic frogs…males with ovaries and eggs. And in rodents and humans Atrazine is associated with breast cancer and prostate cancer and low sperm count.

I recommend you see those two videos…Food Inc. and the Future of Food. And there are probably good books on this topic that I don’t know about. But let’s talk solutions.

The locovore movement is a movement to eat locally grown food. Food that has not been transported 1500 miles by petrochemically powered transport. That’s a partial solution at best. It doesn’t stop the cardboard hydroponic strawberries I get here in Hawaii.

In Germany, when I rode on the trains, I could see down into people’s back yards. And what I saw was not swing sets and green grass. What I saw was tomatoes and zucchini and eggplants and sunflowers and sweet corn and potatoes and strawberries and chard and lettuce. People don’t have lawns in Germany. They have gardens. NOT because they’re impoverished. They’re more productive and wealthier than we are. They have gardens because they love fresh organic food. It’s an entirely different mindset. They don’t want to buy chemically grown food shipped 1500 miles. They want food growing all around their houses! How we plant flowers is how they plant food. And they plant the flowers too!

I’ve been trying to start a community garden here in Wailuku Hawaii and I am getting nowhere with it because the local government and NGO fucks, won’t help. I lived next to a community garden in downtown Helena, Montana, the State Capitol, but in a one-horse town in Hawaii, we can’t find the space for one. Small-minded assholes. The non-profit corporate fucks, from the Wailuku Main Street Association, won’t even return my phone calls or respond to my hand-delivered notes. Because they’re stupid and ignorant and don’t care what’s in the food they buy at SAFEway. So I just wrote a letter to the editor of the local paper trying to shame them into action. That’s a kind-of solution: trash-talk and shame the local assholes who are blindly standing in the way of anything new happening, by way of the sheer inertia of believing that their mission…as a not-for-profit community association…their mission is acting as a de facto local “business council”, siphoning off tax money to run fairs and street events to help local business owners. And fuck helping some old farts grow vegetables. That’s as far as their thinking goes. They are in the business, of business, and the hell with everything else. I’m sick to death of living in a country whose only metric for the value of anything is how much money it brings in, or how much commerce it generates. Ladies and Gentlemen, we’re at the End of that, The END of that way of thinking. THIS IS THE END. My friend, the End.

The food problem got so bad in my life, my stomach and intestines were in so much pain, that I fasted for two weeks. No food at all. Just an occasional half uh grapefruit. I dropped 20 pounds, felt great and wanted to keep going, but my doctor took a urine sample and said it showed my blood was, predictably, highly acidic from the fasting, which meant I would burn out my kidneys if I kept at it.

So…to compromise I went on the Caveman diet. The Caveman diet is what we ate before there was such a thing as…agriculture. Basically no starch. No sugars. No carbohydrates. No wheat, bread, noodles, oats, corn, rice, potatoes, beans, soybeans, peas, peanuts. No starch. No soybeans no soybean oil. I even stopped dairy.

Meat, fish, vegetables, and fruit. That’s what I can have. I eliminated all the products of corporate agriculture except the meat, but I cut way down on that. Luckily we have fish around here. They’re not cheap, or easy to catch, but they’re here.

To my amazement I did not gain back all the weight I’d lost from fasting, which has happened every other time I fasted. My gut feels great and I am still losing weight slowly.

So what was this all about? Two important things to know. One: My stomach lining got burned out by using ibuprofen to kill inflammatory pain in my formerly dislocated shoulder. And with my stomach mucosa stripped away by ibuprofen, the large molecules of the foods I normally eat, smacked up against my intestine walls and tried to get absorbed into my blood stream. My immune system freaked out, and started making antibodies against the food I’ve eaten most often throughout my life – bread and milk. So now, every time I eat bread and milk, even with my stomach lining back to normal, my immune system is still trying to fight them…using it’s main tool, INFLAMMATION, to rush blood to the scene of the invasion, and supply food, oxygen, and white blood cells to fight off all those nasty molecules of — bread and milk. Are you following this? By taking a doctor’s advice and taking ibuprofen every day for a couple weeks I have made myself allergic to the foods I have eaten the most in my life. Ignorant Bastards.

Don’t listen to doctors. Those NonSteroid anti-inflammatory drugs are bullshit. You can’t take them regularly without burning out your intestines and creating huge problems for yourself. Doctors just tell you what the drug company reps tell them – they’re corporate whores.

And the other thing that happened is that I got poisoned – there’s no other word for it – poisoned by the cornucopia of corporate agriculture. Our food has turned into poison. Not only have they have recombined so many starches and proteins that they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing any more. I have chronic intestinal and skin allergies, hives, caused by food. But just as bad, they have increased our intake of starches enormously. Why do you think so many poor people are fat? Carbohydrates are cheap and carbohydrates turn into fat. Fat doesn’t turn into fat. Carbohydrates turn into fat. The whole fantasy of avoiding fats is a goddam public relations lie. If you eat pork fat it doesn’t turn into human fat. But if you eat bread and potato chips it does. Lying bastards. Worse, they have commandeered the ag departments of universities and paid them to produce studies showing how great Velveeta soybean cheese, and soybean ice cream additives, are for your health. And how harmless guar gum, Xantham gum, maltodextrin, sucrose, and calcium stearate are to you. Scum bags.

Briefly here’s the story. Starches like grains, beans and potatoes are all mildly toxic. Yes toxic. They got that way naturally to prevent wild animals, birds and goats and wild cattle, from pigging out on them and wiping them out. You can’t eat lots of cookie dough, (which is uncooked wheat), raw potatoes, or uncooked beans, without getting stomach pains. They’re toxic. Then, ten thousand years ago some scientist invented the clay pot, which could be filled with water, and starches could be boiled. And this boiling destroyed the toxins. Or so they said. These starches don’t bother you immediately, but over time they really fuck you up. When I look around at all the Americans with bloated guts I can only ask myself how much bread and tortillas and potatoes, how much soybean and corn, added-ingredient crap, have they eaten in their lives?

Biologically, we were made to eat meat, fish, vegetables and fruits. And that’s it. Fuck starches. Fuck grains. Fuck potatoes. Those are recent inventions. For two million years we did just fine without them. And now they’re getting fucked up even worse as GMOs

Our food is toxic. Our food is poison. Being vegetarian is another red herring. It’s not about that.

So stay off Non Steroid anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen. And Advil. And stop eating food made by corporate agribusinesses.

Osama bin Laden should have been captured and interrogated so we could find out who was really behind 9/11. Neither road builder Osama bin Laden, nor professional ditch-digger Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, had the technical expertise to pull off the bombing of the twin towers. Osama was the wallet, and that’s all he was. Bin Laden was murdered just like Lee Harvey Oswald was murdered, so he wouldn’t be able to talk. He was the fall guy. The patsy. He was unarmed. His wife was shot in the leg. They could have shot him in the leg too. But the murderous fucks had rehearsed exactly what he would look like through night vision goggles and each wanted to be the “the one” to bag him, like a pheasant.

True, Navy Seals are mindless murdering machines. But they could have, and should have, been ordered to capture him alive. Someone didn’t want that to happen. Someone who didn’t want us to delve into how the terrorists knew to attack us on a day when we were having military exercises up and down the East Coast. Or delve into why building seven collapsed. Or why people from the Israeli embassy were told not to go to work in the Twin Towers that day. Or what really crashed into the Pentagon, because it certainly was not a jet airplane. Or who or what technology steered those jets into the twin towers, because amateur pilots certainly couldn’t pull that off once, much less twice in a row. Or who lied in claiming to have been a passenger-hero by making cell phone calls from an altitude where that would have been flat-out impossible. The biggest crime in American history has never been properly investigated. And that’s because some assholes high up the ladder are intimately involved. And the Seals just murdered the one guy who could connect the dots. The fall guy patsy: Lee Harvey Osama…bin Laden.

Here’s a comment I posted on CNN, CBS and the Wall Street Journal. The story changes again, for the fourth time! First he was a coward, hiding behind his wife. Then his wife attacked the Seals and was shot in the leg and OBL was shot in the chest, then head. Now they tell us that the helmet cameras were not even recording during the raid. Fat chance of that. That’s the only time when it’s important for them to be recording. They’re hiding something. And for the fourth contradiction, now they say Osama was fleeing into a room that had weapons in it when he got plugged. So how did he get shot in the chest? These guys have lost all credibility. I do not believe anything they say, or anything Barack Obama says about this, and I think there should be a thorough investigation. Separate the Seals from each other now and don’t let them get their “story straight”. They’re lying. This was murder. Murder of the main “witness” to the people who were really the brains behind 9/11.

We are being lied to, and the truth is being covered up, again. Just like with JFK.

And here’s Barack Obama, the self-marketing genius, lavishing himself upon the media – jumping up and down on bin Laden’s watery grave – whoring himself at Ground Zero for a 10 point jump in his lackluster approval ratings. He orders 25 assassins to kill an unarmed old man and exploits that to sell himself on prime time as a gutsy leader. And all the while he’s just an ignorant pawn who killed the patsy. What depressing bullshit.

[no more bullshit, that’s out motto]

See ya next month.
